Avian Influenza - Market Rasen
On the 11th of April 2026, a case of Avian Influenza (bird flu) H5N1 has been confirmed near Market Rasen, West Lindsey.
As a result, the Government has established a 3 km Protection Zone (PZ) and a 10 km Surveillance Zone (SZ) around the infected place. Parts of the parish of Toft Newton fall within the Protection Zone, while the remainder of the parish is covered by the Surveillance Zone.
These zones are designed to prevent the spread of disease and apply to all keepers of poultry and captive birds, whether kept commercially or as pets.
