Toft Newton Parish Council are inviting local Parish Councils to join our New Councillor Training Session
Toft Newton Parish Council have recently appointed a new Parish Clerk and additionally just co-opted some new Councillors, as a result, we are wanting to provide a New Councillor Training session for them.
West Lindsey District Council are unlikely to offer any such training until after next year’s Parish Council elections, and the LALC sessions next week in Marham Le Fen (Boston area) and in July via Zoom will be for Councils that cover the whole of Lincolnshire.
Therefore, we wondered if it would be worth delivering an in-person session that has a truly local perspective, to include WLDC contacts, names and photos and District Councillors and other useful local information, etc., and we wondered if any of our neighbouring Town and Parish Councils (Councillors, Clerks or other staff) would be interested in attending this New Councillor Training session.
If this is something that your Council might be interested in, we would be looking to provide this session at some point in June at the Toft Newton Village Hall, in Newtoft, approximately 4 miles west of Market Rasen.
The LALC session is fantastic as is their support for Town and Parish Councils throughout Lincolnshire.
As well as being able to include the local perspective, and being delivered by our recently retired Clerk, who was the Clerk at Toft Newton during the last four years (who has 20 years’ experience in various local government roles), we believe it would be a great opportunity for Councillors and Clerks from neighbouring Town and Parish Councils to network and to potentially create long lasting opportunities to support our Councils, especially during the most significant Lincolnshire Local Government Reorganisation in more than 50 years, which is just months away from being confirmed.
While we cannot offer this session for free, we can offer it at cost, therefore, we would be looking at charging £5 per delegate, to cover hall hire and refreshments.
A copy of the presentation would be provided electronically following the conclusion of the training session. We will even provide a certificate of attendance that can be used to support your Staff and Councillor Training and Development Policies.
If this is something your Council might be interested in, please do let us know ASAP.
